KARE 11: Digger and A History of Concrete
By Brian Eggert | October 3, 2026
Dear readers,
Today, I returned to KARE 11 Saturday, the weekend morning show of Minnesota’s local NBC affiliate. I talked about two new releases: a divisive film I loved and an intriguing documentary.
First, there are a lot of sensationalist headlines about Digger, the latest from Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman, The Revenant). Vulture asked, “Is Digger the Most Annoying Movie of the Year?” Slate’s headline read, “Tom Cruise’s New Movie Is a Disaster of Almost Apocalyptic Proportions.” I wholeheartedly disagree and think it has much more going for it than most people seem to think. I give a spoiler-free take on the KARE 11 segment but dive into more details in my written review.
Next, I share my enthusiasm for John Wilson’s The History of Concrete. The creator of HBO’s How To with John Wilson explores the impermanence of concrete as a metaphor for something more existential in this hilarious, creative, and personal documentary.
Watch the segment below. And check out my Guest Appearances page for other TV and podcast appearances.
Happy viewing!
