The CineFiles – Ep. 20
By Brian Eggert | February 26, 2026
Dear readers,
On the latest episode of The CineFiles, journalist Chris Hrapsky and I (Jamie Rogers was out again this week) discuss three films now in theaters, and we also revisit one of my all-time favorite films.
I begin with a review of “Wuthering Heights” from writer-director Emerald Fennell. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi star in a steamy, borderline-surreal adaptation of Emily Brontë’s novel, which I found more about surfaces than about moving drama or believable characters. It’s now in theaters.
Next, Chris and I disagreed on How to Make a Killing, a darkly comic thriller starring Glen Powell. The film follows an heir who turns to murder to secure his inheritance. Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Topher Grace, and Ed Harris also star. I enjoyed it. Chris, not so much. It’s now in theaters as well.
However, we agreed on Ghost Elephants, Werner Herzog’s latest documentary, which follows a search for an elusive species of elephant. The film opens in select theaters on February 27, airs on National Geographic on March 7, and streams on Disney+ and Hulu on March 8.
For this week’s CineGift, I recommended Grand Illusion (1937), Jean Renoir’s humanist classic about French soldiers in a German POW camp during World War I. For the next episode, Chris’ CineGift is The Last Dragon (1985).
