The CineFiles – Ep. 19
By Brian Eggert | February 13, 2026
Dear readers,
On the latest episode of The CineFiles, journalist Chris Hrapsky and I (Jamie Rogers was out) cover three distinctive new releases and revisit a towering film from 1999.
We begin with Gore Verbinski’s Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, a weird and wild time-travel adventure about an oddball attempting to stop a malicious AI from being invented. We both had a great time with its out-there humor and Sam Rockwell’s gleefully unhinged performance. The film opens in theaters February 13 from Briarcliff Entertainment.
Next, we discuss Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, director Matt Johnson’s madcap Canadian comedy about two friends who accidentally travel back in time while trying to promote their band. Blending reality and fiction with riotous energy, the film arrives in theaters February 13 from NEON.
I also review Pillion, the latest from A24. Starring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård, this provocative and romantic story about self-discovery and BDSM relationships is now in limited release and expands on February 20.
For this week’s CineGift, Chris selected Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia (1999), which he was checking off his watchlist. Next time, we’ll discuss my CineGift pick: Jean Renoir’s Grand Illusion (1937).
