The CineFiles – Ep. 15
By Brian Eggert | December 19, 2025
Dear readers,
On the latest episode of The CineFiles, reporter Chris Hrapsky, critic Jamie Rogers, and I talked about a couple of new releases and the Warner Bros. acquisition drama in the headlines.
The main film is Marty Supreme, and I shared my thoughts on the latest Josh Safdie feature, following a wannabe table tennis champ who scrambles to prove his skill in the sport. It stars Timothée Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher. Now in limited release, it expands to everywhere on December 25.
Then, Jamie and I talked about the new James L. Brooks dramedy, Ella McCay, starring Emma Mackey. Despite it’s excellent cast and potential to become a moving statement on politics and work-life balance, it never quite comes together. It’s now in theaters.
We also debate the lose-lose situation of a Warner Bros. acquisition by either Netflix or Paramount.
For this week’s CineGift, Jamie gave us the gift of Love Actually (2003), which, depending on where qyou stand, is either a beloved holiday hit or an uneven misfire. Watch until the end to see what Chris chooses for the next CineGift.

Happy viewing!
