The 83rd Annual Academy Awards show was an exceptionally dismal, slow-moving, and unfocused ceremony, the worst in recent memory. Hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway supplied a dreadful and transparent youth component, their hipness filled with plenty of awkward “me” moments, while Billy Crystal’s single minute as a presenter was more entertaining. The meandering looks back at previous awards ceremonies and past Best Picture winners only underlined how uninspired this show was. As for the winners, As for the winners, The King’s Speech, Inception, and The Social Network earned the most awards, with surprises and upsets kept to a minimum (save for David Fincher’s loss to Tom Hooper).
